Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumHow do you secure your guns(s) when not in hand or on your person?
My revolver is loaded and secured in a lock box under my night stand in the bedroom along with the live ammo. The box is tethered with a steel cable to the bed frame. Only I know the combo to the box and a son-in-law knows where I have the by-pass key hidden.
When I do my dry fire exercises, I unload the revolver, lock the ammo back into the lock box and walk down to the basement where the snap caps are kept in a locked travel case. I do not keep live ammo in the basement where I do the dry fire exercises and the basement is the only place on my property where I do the exercises. The basement is also the place where I clean the gun after returning home from live firing the weapon and first securing the ammo in the lock box.

(15,396 posts)Sad news is only I know the combination for 2 of the safes.
When I do dry fire I unload the magazine and line all the ammo up where I can count it and see it just for a visual.

(2,375 posts)What differentiates 'Kaleva' from 'Kalevala'? Sincere question.
Kaleva
(38,171 posts)It's been in business since 1918 and the last time I was there was about 11 years ago. I had a BLT sandwich and a cup of coffee while my girlfriend and her daughter were picking out a wedding dress for our upcoming wedding.
The Kalevala is the great Finnish epic.

Sprinkler system in house, 12" thick rock walls on all four sides, double pane Lexan windows all round. Weapons are removed and replaced each day. Her Colt Commander 45 and 9mm carbine, my P220 and AR carbine.
Decoy of Fenris
(1,954 posts)Well, out of reach for anyone in my family but me, anyways. There's advantages to being a foot and a half taller than everyone in the home.
Still, I'm likely going to move the ammo into the safe we just bought. If for some insane reason my ammo decides to cook itself off, I'd rather it do so within eight inches of solid steel.
