Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumredneckrevolt.org
Worth your attention, DU gun enthusiasts: Redneck Revolt is an openly armed organization, espousing the defense of political viewpoints that are the polar opposites of the NRA's: anti-white supremacy, anti-fascism, pro-liberal. Chapters have been established all over the country. This bears looking into, if you are in fact an armed Democrat.

(791 posts)I was pretty much with them until I got to the no nation state stuff. That's nice and all, but other nations will still exist, even if this organization gets their way. What will they do then?

(17,502 posts)Which is very illiberal? Left wing does not always mean liberal, see Antifa and any random socialist.
In all fairness, when is the NRA white supremacist? Why are there more black people, which are two, on the NRA board than on HuffPo's editorial staff, who are all white women? Not that I'm a member or a fan, but I detest calling everyone "racist" without evidence. Ted Nugent does not mean everyone else.
As the other poster mentioned, they sound like anarchists. Not a fan.

(17,502 posts)They are anarchists, left wing libertarians, which are as delusional as their right wing counterparts.
All I did was simply point out the race baiting is bullshit. I also detest left wing anti white racists as much as I do the likes of Richard Spencer and David Duke. I didn't say I was a fan of either one. Besides, I have to check these guys out more than just what is on their website. One question is are they allies of Antifa and BAMN or not.
Let me ask you this, are you a progressive or a liberal? There was a time when the two weren't mutually exclusive, but it is today. Personally, I'm a liberal.
Paladin
(28,763 posts)I pay attention to all the times you Gun Enthusiasts have hollered about the Second Amendment not being about hunting, but being about the right of the public to have armed protection against a government that has overstepped its reasonable bounds and is devolving into rank authoritarianism. That's exactly the situation we have now---and you people can't step away from it fast enough. THAT'S what I'm paying attention to.
gejohnston
(17,502 posts)our guy/gal loses. Rank authoritarianism is limiting the BoR like limits on speech, due process, warrantless searches etc. It is also taking dictatorial powers.
Calling for "hate speech laws", which is simply speech you don't like, is authoritarian. So is "gun violence protection orders" that violate the fifth amendment's due process and takings clauses. Am I saying some anti gunners are authoritarian? Well, yes. That also makes most of Europe, especially the autocrats at the EU commission, more authoritarian than we are. There, they limit speech, guns, and abortion much more than we do.
When Trump, or Pence, declare themselves "president for life" and starts putting people in concentration camps, I'll be concerned. In the meantime, I'll work for a proper replacement and defend liberal values against authoritarians on the right and the left. I'm old enough to remember POTUSes as bad or worse. Nixon and Wilson come to mind.

Buried in their beliefs. I'm not sure they are as liberal as libertarian. After reading about their viewpoints I think they would find common ground with Sovereign citizens before Democrats.
In my opinion the Liberal Gun Club is a better fit for gun-owning Democrats.

Nice strawman argument there- and BTW,

(11,996 posts)You'd be for everyone turning their guns on the "real enemies" (apparently "the rich" ).
One thing to enjoy having right to own guns, another to take advantage of that freedom so you can promote armed revolution and call for killing whomever you declare are the enemies.

jmg257
(11,996 posts)Why killing people and overthrowing the govt means you're a Good Democrat is WAAY beyond me.
Your notion of what makes a "good Democrat" seems a bit...off (psst - it ain't murdering people YOU feel are somehow 'oppressing' you because they are better off)
I'm actually surprised by that attitude here.
Paladin
(28,763 posts)And for the life of me, I don't see how I can be involved in "this armed revolution shit" you keep talking about: I don't own a single assault rifle, there aren't any stacks of 30-round magazines lying around my residence, I am not in possession of any semi-auto pistols, no silencers anywhere---you know, the sort of hardware that you peace-loving gun enthusiasts chatter about endlessly in this group, when you're not dispensing opinions on what the true purpose of the Second Amendment really is (helpful hint: it ain't deer hunting).
(Another helpful hint, just for you: there is a butt-load of irony and sarcasm in the paragraph above. You're welcome.)

Just very surprising is all.
And surprising why you don't understand why many here are hostile to their 'kill em all!' notions of murder, mayhem and revolution.

(15,333 posts)It's an old schtick that gets trotted out about once a year or so:
https://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=118x361725#367600
Black powder guns, revolvers, traditionally stocked shotguns, deer rifles, even 1911's- "But I {or Dad, or Granddad, or Uncle Duke} had / have one of those, so they're perfectly fine. The rest of your guns? Ban 'em."
https://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=118x361725#368402
Claiming to be a gun owner and/or very familiar with guns, and yet continually putting down other gun owners
For those unfamiliar:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_Ruckus
Those types take great pains to describein detail how their gun collection only uses pre-1905 technology.
When they show up, a question always occurs to me:
https://sync.democraticunderground.com/1172193744#post37
I've yet to see a explicit rationale from a 'royalist' gun control advocate as to
why *their* gun ownership is more acceptable than another persons, or why their
views on the matter should be encoded into law.
They act as if their firearms don't fire the same potentially lethal rounds that every other firearm
ever invented does...
sarisataka
(21,000 posts)It surprises me. But after one regular gun control poster, who still post here, said this-
"As for me, I subscribe to the "thin the herd" philosophy. The more gun owner's toddlers kill their parents and themselves, the fewer nuts of breeding age are left and the higher the average IQ of the nation will rise"
Nothing from the gun control side surprises me anymore.
