The bones of bankrupt Remington Arms continue to be picked clean as Sturm, Ruger (NYSE:RGR) announced it was acquiring the gunmaker's Marlin Arms for $30 million. Remington has accepted the offer and the bankruptcy approved the sale.
The sad end to a storied gunmaker
Remington was forced into bankruptcy despite a booming firearms market because it had been saddled with substantial amounts of debt by its private equity owners and faced lawsuits from the families of victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.

So, Henry and Marlin will continue to sell lever action rifles and carbines 140+ years after they were 1st produced

The world is crying out for more bolt action shotguns.....
Marlin makes rimfire semis and bolt actions and lever actions.

(28,763 posts)4. Yeah, but they used to make clunky, bolt-action shotguns.
Sturm Ruger could always start making them again, if they were really stupid. The old Marlins in .410 still have a certain following here in the Southwest---good snake guns.

It was a bolt action 12-gauge shotgun with a 36" barrel. Clunky? I guess, but they have a certain old-school charm.
