Biden so far avoids talking gun reform post-Atlanta shooting

https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/18/politics/biden-gun-policy-atlanta-shooting/index.html

(CNN)In the wake of Tuesday's shootings in Atlanta, President Joe Biden has raised concerns about the spike in hate crimes against Asian Americans and tasked two senior advisers to convene listening sessions on the issue.

But he has not mentioned anything about guns or gun reform in his public remarks or tweets on the incident, even as the White House says he remains personally committed to doing more on gun safety.

The approach is different than former President Barack Obama, who raised the issue of guns in a tweet on Wednesday.

"Yesterday's shootings are another tragic reminder that we have far more work to do to put in place commonsense gun safety laws and root out the pervasive patterns of hatred and violence in our society," he tweeted.

All of USa (sic) know the problem is uncontrolled guns. Pound the meme that the country is out of control; constant message - killings mean out-of-control.
We are out-of-control! What to do?
The answer is "we need control".
All of the sane majority of USa (sic) will take control.
The 19th amendment is dead.
We can do the same to the 2nd source of UNCONTROL.

...but President Biden has his priorities. From the linked article:

Ultimately, gun control issues -- which face an uphill battle for passage in a Senate narrowly controlled by Democrats -- are further down on Biden's list of legislative priorities than issues such as infrastructure and immigration.

The small vocal gun control group is going to vote blue anyway.
Raising the issue mobilizes the 2nd Amendment folks and generates a lot of unnecessary anger at the Democrats.

Not to mention that most proposals will have little to no effect on gun violence.
Assault weapons ban - less than 500 people per year are killed by all rifles. Most hunting rifles use the same ammo, have the same magazine capacity, and have the same muzzle velocity. The fact that black plastic is more scary that wood is justification for banning a rifle.

Universal Background Checks - Sounds good until you try to implement it. If I loan my Brother in-law a shotgun to go hunting -- does that really need a background check to loan it and then another for him to give it back to me?

None of the proposed gun control measures will affect the use of guns by criminals.
