http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/27/business/media/melissa-harris-perry-walks-off-her-msnbc-show-after-pre-emptions.htmlIn an email sent to people she works with this week, which was obtained by The New York Times, Ms. Harris-Perry said that her show had effectively been taken away from her and that she felt worthless in the eyes of NBC News executives.
Here is the reality: Our show was taken without comment or discussion or notice in the midst of an election season, she wrote. After four years of building an audience, developing a brand and developing trust with our viewers, we were effectively and utterly silenced.

(18,960 posts)...she's right. After four years of building an audience, developing a brand and developing trust with our viewers, we were effectively and utterly silenced.
She's not the first MSNBC on-air personality this has happened to. I find it disgusting that Scarborough and Renfield...I mean "Mika"..seem to be the crown jewel in their "stable of stars." And as far as Tweety is concerned, he has always run hot and cold. His allegiances are generally tied to money, as in the fact that his wife is prepping a run for office, and a chunk of her cash comes from the same people who are also Hillary donors.
The did the same thing to Alex Wagner. She had friends at the top, so her stay lasted a little longer than it might, but ultimately "On July 30, 2015, MSNBC President Tim Griffin announced that the series had been cancelled in an effort to transiton the network's daytime programming to more breaking news reporting and less political commentary and opinion. The next day the program aired its final episode." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_Wagner)
Then there was "The Cycle," which got a little easier to swallow after the departure of loathsome Ann Coulter clone SE Cupp, but it ultimately was put out of its misery due to "low ratings."

They can't do it all at once, they need to slowly wean their viewers over to more conservative views.
If MSNBC does this well, no one will notice their personal political conversions.

(5,644 posts)That was the last show that I watched on MSNBC with regularity. It appears that they are ridding themselves of all Liberals and PoC, just in time for President Obama to complete his term in office. I personally would like more information on what's going on in the Democratic primary. Instead, we get Republic0n B.S. all day, every day, 24/7!!!!
I have never seen so many Republic0ns on that station until this year. I remember Rachel would beg them to come on her show and now that station is loaded with them. They are even giving 'Morning Joe' extra face time. The weekly evening programs only talk about what the hell is going on in the Republic0n primary...who the f**k cares! They are not going to turn this liberal into a mindless automaton like those constituents in the Republic0n party.
I think that MSNBC is going into competition with FOX news.

(14,733 posts)When I turned on MSNBC Sat morning, and saw Joe and Mika, it didn't phase me, I guess because I thought it must still be a weekday or something. I didn't process that they were pre-empting regular weekend programs. I've also been rather busy the last few weekends in general, and just didn't realize just how often MHP was getting shoved aside.
MSNBC might not be Fox yet, but they've certainly gone CNN, and are working towards Fox.
