Wow, at an NYT event at UCLA, Luskin School Dean @GarySegura blasted and mocked NYT reporters in front of their faces for their both-sides journalism.
Predictably, those reporters were not happy.
Wow. This is a must-watch.
Thank you, Gary Segura.
The NYT is great in many ways. It is the paper of record. But their bothsideisim in political coverage harms the country.

(6,916 posts)Washington Post and LA Times and Chicago Times are all better choices for political coverage than the NYT.
But really what I recommend is:
Subscribe to TPM and Mother Jones and Propublica.
Then get the NYT - but don't read the politics articles. Nothing by Peter Baker or Maggie Haberman for sure.

(2,577 posts)Both-siderism has been a curse in the media. Both sides are equally bad... no. One party has totally gone off the rails and is now the mouthpiece of Moscow and white nationalists.
Both-siderism has fed the moron myth that the only REAL Americans are rural white people in the center of the country. All the places with large populations (and with diverse and more educated people) are dismissed as not genuine. Genuine Americans come in all colors, genders, and sexual orientations. Papers like the NYT have lost sight of that.
