All Three WikiLeaks Movies Are At a Standstill

If you were excited about seeing any of the three films that have been planned about WikiLeaks and Julian Assange, don't hold your breath ... According to Vulture, all three films are at somewhat of a standstill due to the real-life drama surrounding Assange and his legal troubles, and without an real-life ending to his story, well, it's sort of difficult to pen an ending to any films either ...

Vulture reports that HBO's version, which is based on a New Yorker story about Assange, has hired director Charles Ferguson, but that's about it. DreamWorks' version hired West Wing writer Josh Singer to pen the script, but is waiting on a verdict in Assange's cases because, as DreamWorks' president of production Holly Bario put it, "If you're going to invest in this story, you've got to have a satisfying ending." Universal is the closest to putting out a final product as their version is a documentary from filmmaker Alex Gibney ...

They can release an updated cut later as needed.

This thing doesn't just end, unless something dire happens to Assange.
