DailyKos blogger notices spectacular revelation buried in Trump-Russia news story
From the blog post by this weekend, quoting a Washington Post report mostly overlooked by others (The blog includes a link to the 12/14/17 Post dispatch:
"The entire piece is worth a thorough reading but it contains an amazing bombshell revelation that I havent seen picked up anywhere except The Daily Beast of all places.
"The jaw-dropping lede is somewhat buried here:
> The officials were escorted into a spacious conference room on the 14th floor of Trump Tower. Trump took a seat at one end of a large table, with Vice President-elect Mike Pence at the other. Among the others present were Priebus, Pompeo and designated national security adviser Michael Flynn.
> Following a rehearsed plan, Clapper functioned as moderator, yielding to Brennan and others on key points in the briefing, which covered the most highly classified information U.S. spy agencies had assembled, including an extraordinary CIA stream of intelligence that had HAD CAPTURED PUTIN'S SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS ON THE OPERATION. [capitalization added for emphasis]
"... Trump was briefed on the collection of the actual instructions. Not just the 'strong belief' or the 'bulk of the evidence' or other intelligence hedging but the actual instructions. That means every time since January 6th that Trump has expressed doubt about Russian interference in the election he has been outright lying. And he knows it."

(779 posts)Were't Clapper and Brennan concerned that the room was not secure?
Putin was probably listening in on the briefing, unless the CIA guys swept the room ahead of time.

(12,882 posts)such allegations/revelations. Actually, I'm AWED OUT. If we had evidence that Hitler and Stalin had been at that meeting, I'd maybe have raised my eyebrows a bit. At this point, there's NOTHING I wanna see other'n this whole cabal in orange jump suits. Right now, there's unbelievable PAIN as I watch the fabric of this supposed democracy get shredded before our very eyes. Russians, Martians, Zombies, Tahitians, Remote Amazon tribes - Makes no real difference as we stare at our monitors while the looting presses forward. Where's a TRUE American general who's willing to put medals and medicinal needs aside for the greater good of the nation they strove to lead our defense operations for?

(84,306 posts)I enjoy referring to him as a "congenital liar" with a few "pathological"s and other such adjectives thrown in. It's my tip-the-hat/thumb-the-nose gesture toward asshole CON columnist William Safire, who years ago decided one day to insult Hillary Clinton by labeling her a "congenital liar". Back atcha, Safire. Btw - let me introduce you to a REAL congenital liar: donald trump.
