Air Force disputes Alaska crew favored Trump Scottish hotel

By MARK THIESSEN

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Military officials are disputing a report that claims a joint Air Force and Alaska Air National Guard unit on a routine mission to Kuwait went miles out of their way to spend the night at a resort in Scotland owned by President Donald Trump.

Politico first reported that the military transport that took off from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage in March spent the night at the Turnberry resort, about 50 miles outside Glasgow.

The disclosure comes as Trump last week denied he had any role in Vice President Mike Pence booking a room at a Trump resort in Ireland or Attorney General William Barr booking at holiday party at a Trump property in Washington, D.C., actions which Democrats and critics claim enrich the president at taxpayer’s expense.

Military flights making stopovers in Scotland are not unusual, and there were no rooms closer to the airport, an Air Force spokesman said Saturday in an emailed statement to The Associated Press.

“As our aircrews serve on these international airlift missions, they follow strict guidelines on contracting for hotel accommodations and all expenditures of taxpayer dollars,” Brig Gen Edward Thomas wrote. “In this case, they made reservations through the Defense Travel System and used the closest available and least expensive accommodations to the airfield within the crews’ allowable hotel rates.”

When we take over we need to prosecute them.

We need a truth and reconciliation court on the pattern of Nirenberg.

What military supplies are staged in Alaska for regular trips to Kuwait? Is Anchorage a gateway to a polar route to Europe?

A crew may be gone for several weeks and fly multiple legs. US based units will also do temporary detachments in Europe and the Middle-East that can last several months.

1. How often do these Air Force crews stop in Scotland for refueling?

2. Did these Air Force crews stop in Scotland during the Obama and previous administrations?

3. When they stopped in Scotland for refueling, where have they historically stayed?

4. When did they start staying at the Trump facility and under whose direction did this start?

5. How much USG money has gone to this particular Trump facility, and how much has the Air Force paid historically to other facilities before they started staying at this one?

Contract signed with Prestwick Airport in 2016. Apparently hotels booked through online Pentagon travel system because it had the lowest rate ($136/night). Max allowed rate is $166/night.

Not that it matters. Even if they did, trump was s private citizen. Now he’s profiting off of the presidency. Very different.

That said, it might be worth looking into the big picture Re refueling, accommodations, etc

Why did they refuel at a private filling station where they paid much more for the fuel instead of going to an American military base in England - I think there are five.

How did they insure that the plane was protected while at a foreign/private location?
Did we pay for extra security?

Did they pay airport fees at the private airport? How much?

which I gather is not even on the usual route....so something stinks.

“In this case, they made reservations through the Defense Travel System and used the closest available and least expensive accommodations to the airfield within the crews’ allowable hotel rates.”

So did they choose the airfield so that they had to stay at Trump's, yes they did.
