A missile launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base Thursday morning.
The base confirms with KSBY News that the "conventionally configured ground launch ballistic missile" launched from the base at 8:30 a.m.
Prior to the launch, base officials were tight-lipped on whether a launch was happening Thursday.
The military training exercise stopped Amtrak service through a portion of Santa Barbara County.

VOA News and Aircraftspots on twitter reported another B-52 flight over the Sea of Japan/East Sea December 10. This suggests an increased frequency of missions of the strategic bomber flights. Aircraft spots also reported that a deployment of B-1bs to the Pacific is expected in the near future. Previous B-52 flights in the Sea of Japan were on Oct 25 and Nov 22.
The aircraft spots twitter feed also reflects the increased reconnaissance activity over the northern part of South Korea to monitor North Korean military activities.
