Navy Offers $25,000 to All Recruits to Ship Out Quickly
The Navy announced Thursday that it is offering a $25,000 signing bonus to recruits for any rate as long as they are willing to ship off to boot camp before summer.
The sea service, in a press release, said the bonus applies to "anyone who enlists Active Duty" and is willing to start boot camp between April and June of this year.
"The Navy is the only U.S. military branch currently offering this high of an enlistment bonus for any new enlistee," the service boasted.
The press release adds that the bonus will stack with other recruitment incentives that target specific specialties. As a result, "the enlistment bonus could be as high as $50,000," the service said.

(48,047 posts)racist MAGAs.
That is just not fair to put minority recruits in that toxic environment. Why do you leave it to us to "train" these kind of people, when we're struggling to make it through hoops that already benefit their kind?

(5,283 posts)OTOH - if it puts them on the front line and removes them from the gene pool, I'd consider that a win.
I've found that a number of really racist people are perfectly fine with the black guy who went through basic training with him. I knew someone who I'd be willing to bet was a total MAGAt now but when I knew him was best buds with the black woman who went through police training with him.

(48,047 posts)Is it possible for a racist and a member of a minority group to get along? Sure. The deciding incentive was a paycheck and HR watching over to make sure that things didn't get out of hand.
That actually was working before the shock talk media and Trump encouraged racists to come out and overtly show their stripes.
So, today there is a total culture of racism supported by their churches and community and some of it is legally actionable. It is just going to take a wise and astute Civil rights group actively working its way across the country. And I would make sure that among them are lawyers who are wizards at homeowner rights.

The big ships too are not ocean liners, they are dull gray cramped quarters.
The bonus incentive sounds right.

(7,153 posts)Not just RTC, but the follow-on schools as well.
Back in the day, if someone shipped during summer surge and got out of step at RTC (physical improvement, etc), then a seat got missed at training and some people languished for close on a year awaiting the next seat.
((I think there is an implicit bias, as many south/western high schools graduate students in May while in my area it's not until mid-June.))
