Reports of Chinese police stations in US worry FBI
18 November 2022
The FBI is "concerned" by reports that secret "police stations" linked to China have been set up across the US.
A September report issued by the NGO Safeguard Defenders revealed the presence of these stations around the world, including in New York.
The FBI's director, Christopher Wray, told senior politicians that the agency was monitoring reports of such centres across the country.
"We are aware of the existence of these stations," Mr Wray said.
"To me, it is outrageous to think that the Chinese police would attempt to set up shop, you know, in New York, let's say, without proper coordination," he added. "It violates sovereignty and circumvents standard judicial and law enforcement cooperation processes."

(13,524 posts)Ignoring these types of things just makes the Chinese think we are weak. They & the Russians view any leeway as "weakness".
The administration needs to put a stop to this right now. And its just more fuel for the GOP

(24,778 posts)he lied to Congress about 1/6. He is using the threat of China (a real threat) to divert attention away from his response, non-response to 1/6.
Christopher Wray needs to be investigated. Christopher Wray should be investigating Ginni Thomas, there is plenty of evidence that she conspired to overthrow our election.

(50,821 posts)The idea is that the "stations" (offices) are there to help Chinese expats and family living abroad to handle "paperwork" with China.
Of course though, the Chinese state and army and party work by pressuring those people to report on each other ("social credit" . Further espionage on industries. Plus they fight dissidents with surveillance and blackmailing associates, etc.

went to Canada, some sending their kids on ahead. That generation clearly wanted to avoid being ruled by the Peoples Republic.
Its chilling to think that their lives will also be interfered with.
