Has anyone ever ordered a replacement DD-214 from eVetRecs? I'm wondering how long it takes to process

I decided to get a veteran's insignia on my driver's license and, of course, need to bring a copy of my DD-214. Holy cow, is my DD-214 FADED. They must have been using very cheap paper and ink because it's been stored in a security box.

Anyway, I googled how to request a new one and it's much easier than I realized. I should have thought of this a long time ago.

National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) through eVetrecs.

Mine was always in an envelope that was in a lock box. It's weird how it deteriorated. Siwsan Jul 2024 #4

I requested all my non-classified records and they sent just two separate records. On a positive note, you can track the progress of the process through their website.

All of the info they require is pretty individual specific. One thing I remembered being told was to hold on to it because it would be VERY difficult to replace. Of course, that was many, many years ago.

I will see if the Secretary of State will accept my somewhat faded paperwork. It is legible - barely.

I renewed my license on line and still haven't received my new one. Fortunately I printed off the renewal confirmation but I figured maybe I'll just upgrade to the 'full monty' license - real ID, enhanced and with the vet insignia.

After over 3 decades, it is still in good shape. And the folder is in an accordion file so it is protected from light and air.

None of the other paperwork, not even my enlistment papers, are in that condition.

I had to order the long form DD-214 when purchasing military time for the NC retirement system and it came surprisingly quickly. I think I did it through the VA website.
