The Navy will commission its 10th Virginia-class attack submarine on Saturday.

The Minnesota will be commissioned in a ceremony at 10 a.m. at Norfolk Naval Station, a Navy news release says.

The sub was built in Newport News where construction began in February 2008. It was built under a teaming arrangement between the shipyard and General Dynamics Electric Boat.

The vessel was delivered in June, 11 months ahead of schedule. According to the release, it achieved the highest readiness score of any Virginia-class submarine.
