Talked to trooper catching shit details welcome to the army

He is in reception waiting to get assigned to a infantry batt. And talking to him he told me they took a bunch of cherries and assigning them to the HERD. 173rd Vicenza I told him tell the reception NCO’s you would like go to the Herd. If the Herd was activated when I was a kid I’d give anything to be in it. His response no I wanna stay at Bragg. Reason he is only seven hours from his fiancée. Dammit kid I’m telling you that you do not need a fiancé as young airborne soldier. The herd is the shit SETAF. Dam young soldier I’m trying to help you out. But love stands in the way.

18ish y/o enlustee gets married just before leaving for Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) meaning the young couple us separated for a minimum of 4 months and in some cases over a year.

Financial hardships and infidelity often results in an early death for these unions.

But you should tell him if the Army wanted him to have a wife they would issue one. I think you shouldn’t be allowed to marry the first couple of years. It’s ok if you are already married.

Do they still make them wear a special helmet when they make that 6th jump? When you go from being parachute qualified to being an actual paratrooper.
