In parts of the country the VA is having problems with the postal service getting medications to VA healthcare patients on time and is using UPS and FedEx. We were told that as soon as we receive out meds to reorder them. The computer will hold the prescription until 10 days before we need them. We are lucky in the Jacksonville, NC area. When the computer tells the pharmacists to fill them we receive them by USPS within 3-4 days so we get them about a week before we run out.

(4,474 posts)In late July, Richard Valdez placed an order through the Department of Veterans Affairs to have his medications refilled and shipped to his home in San Bernardino, California a precaution during the coronavirus pandemic for veterans like Valdez, who at 73 is at high risk.
The refill request for his four medications for headaches, post-traumatic stress, and physical pain stemming from injuries incurred during his time in Vietnam as a Marine was sent on July 25.
The first arrived at the end of the month. The other three still haven't come.
When asked if he'd received any notifications from the VA over the delays, Valdez remarked: "If I did, I haven't gotten it yet."

(3,334 posts)that if my medications are ordered on time but do not arrive on time to call her and she will write a VA prescription for me to take to Walmart for tens days worth. I do not know if all PCP will do this and I am sure there are some prescriptions they can't do this for.

(32,982 posts)and am expecting them to be really late. Thankfully, I'm good for the next 40 days.
On a side note...I have co-pays on my RXs and I haven't received a bill from the VA for Rxs filled in June. I even went to my account at pay gov and there was a zero balance. Don't know what's going on.
