An email "announced": temporary SSN suspension. Of course a scam

all I had to do is hovering over the sender who from.... a gmail account.

that is sure a new one.
Bet you have to give them your SSN to verify it wasn't suspended.
Jesus H Christ wouldn't you like to get ahold of one of those guys and just slap the shit out of them?

I got one today, a warning plastered on my screen saying "Your computer has been locked, call xxx-xxx-xxxx" or something to that effect. Couldn’t get rid of it but I read the fine print on the warning and it said I have to call Microsoft support immediately or lose my data. Thing is, I only use Apple products so I knew it was a scam and spent an hour researching a fix to get it off the screen. Giant hassle.

I'm super suspicious of any email or text that tells me I have to go to a specified
website to take care of something. I've yet to encounter even one instance of that sort that was NOT a scam, so I pretty much assume they are until and unless proven otherwise!
