100 Year Old Woman Trumps Elaborate Phone Scam

WACO (November 29, 2012)-Waco police issued a warning Thursday after a resident of a local retirement center was targeted in a scam in which she was promised a $695,000 Publisher's Clearing House prize, but was told she needed to make a down payment in order to claim her winnings.

The woman, 100 year-old Waco resident Thelma Little, received a call from someone who told her she had won the prize and that a Yellow Cab was being sent to pick her up to take her to her bank.

The caller told Little she needed with withdraw $2,000 in order to claim her winnings.

The caller then told Little not to tell anyone about the prize and to call back when the cab arrived.
