One never knows. And are there other members of the family? children? nieces and nephews?

But do send the seasonal greetings, also greeting for his birthday.

And that's it. Don't make additional efforts.

Hope you can find solace with other friends and relatives.

Just heard from him after nothing for a very long time.

He told me there is a new addition to his family.

Sadly, he cannot go so far as to spell the name right.

I wonder what he's been doing?

Decidedly a waste of time and effort.

I gave up a long time ago.

If you have any assets, leave him one hundred dollars in your will.

That way, he cannot contest the will, saying you 'forgot' him and claim that he is due a significant share.

wrong here. I'm thinking that laws involving those who die intestate (without a will) apply almost exclusively to children and spouses. Maybe parents. Not siblings.

Of course, I could be wrong, but you could leave him one dollar in a will. Jackie Kennedy left no money to her sister Lee Radziwill, and that wasn't contested.

More to the point, while I'm sorry you have no relationship with your brother, try to live with that. I have a brother who is a Trumper and I have almost no relationship with him at this point. And honestly, I don't give a flying fuck. He's always been a selfish, self-centered person who has essentially given nothing to the rest of the family. I see no reason to waste any emotion or sentiment on him.

That is his choice, not yours. I like the idea of a card a Xmas and leave it at that. I'm an atheist, but think redemption doesn't have to be a religious concept. I think everyone can change, for better or worse. So, I keep an opening for everyone.
I'm 70 with an older brother and his two kids my only blood relatives. I see him once every couple of years and stay in contact. His wife died a few years ago and now he calls me every week. One thing in life you can always count on is that nothing ever stays the same.

... pick a card that wishes "Happy Holidays" or something like that. If the card doesn't mention Christmas or Christ, I notice the "born-again" go batshit.

Happy Holidays!
