I would be careful with urban farming. I tend to grow in raised gardens that I have filled with Kitchen made mulch. Not that it assures me of purity, but should not have too much dioxin.

it was one of the first farmsteads after we stole the land from the pottowatami indians.
but we have laid down over 20 truckloads of landscape waste, which will make all new soil.
hugelkulture. it's a thing.

Seems like I've read about people in cities who have chickens - roosters, I would guess- who get a lot of flack from neighbors, and some areas have even outlawed chickens in urban areas.

i don't know any that voted no after allowing them previously.
i had 2 roosters, and plan to keep one as i plan to keep my line of chickens going. there is one in every bunch. a couple folks hated me before i did squat. they hated the roosters.
but i had many, many people come up to tell me how much they loved the sound of the roosters with all the nasty sounds we hear here. and it is a sound of home for so many of my immigrant neighbors, so.......

some places do limit you to hens, which is a bit of a problem (i didn't ask for those roos, they were supposed to be hens). but it is doable.
