Related: About this forumSince we've been talking about Facebook......here's one person's take on it:
PRESENTLY, I AM TRYING TO MAKE FRIENDS OUTSIDE OF FACEBOOK WHILE APPLYING THE SAME PRINCIPLES.THEREFORE EVERY DAY, I GO DOWN ON THE STREET AND TELL THE PASSERBY WHAT I HAVE EATEN, HOW I FEEL, WHAT I HAVE DONE THE NIGHT BEFORE, AND WHAT I WILL DO AFTER.
I GIVE THEM PICTURES OF MY FRIENDS, MY FAMILY, MY DOG, AND ME GARDENING AND SPENDING TIME IN MY POOL.
I ALSO LISTEN TO THEIR CONVERSATIONS AND I TELL THEM I LOVE THEM.
-- AND IT WORKS: I ALREADY HAVE 3 PERSONS FOLLOWING ME: TWO POLICE OFFICERS AND A PSYCHIATRIST!

(26,730 posts)If you don't like Facebook, don't go there. Sort of like, if you don't believe in abortion don't have one.
I have found Facebook to be incredibly useful for very specific and personal reasons. So I will stay there. If you don't want to be there, that's okay.

(38,958 posts)And the Facebook bashers are going on it. Not, so much that they are entirely incorrect, but the point has been made, the horse is dead, it needs no beating and frankly life is too short for their negativity.
Dont like the service, dont use it, seems simple enough.

(27,313 posts)It's not Facebook I like. I like using it and the connections it makes possible. I've met and reconnected with some pretty great people and that's been positive. But Facebook, nobody should like. They are beyond bad.. they have blood on their hands. I want to see them clean up their act and atone for the mess they've contributed to.
but as a social platform, Peggy's post was right. Nothing else works like it. Is that worth the evil they've done? I guess it is to me right now..

---Ya gotta watch out for the grandma with the new grandkid. Out comes the first photo of the baby and if ya go, "Aw, s/he's cute." then out comes 15 more and you've wasted a half hour's time..... and multiply that by every next time you see grandma...
So ya gotta head it off at the pass. When the first picture comes out, your response has gotta be, "Will ya look at the size of the fukin' head on that kid? Where'ya gonna get a hat to fit that head?"
and that'll stop it before it gets out'a hand.
