Is this menopause?

I realized today that it has been 37 days since I've had a period. I am 48 years old and I had a tubal ligation years ago.

I'm not experiencing any hot flashes or anything like that. My mood is horrible. I've been in not the best of moods recently because of a job loss. It's been outright depressing. Now that I realized how long I've gone without a period (and except for my pregnancies, I've always been regular), I have had some teary-eyed moments today. Right now, I feel like I could just cry my eyes out.

For the first time in my life I feel old. My emotions feel out of control. Is this what menopause is like?

When one of my sisters was pregnant, she found she that could control her morning sickness by not eating after 7:30 PM. When one of my other sisters was pregnant, she found that she could control her morning sickness by eating just before she went to bed!

I was expecting to get hit with an avalanche of all the menopause symptoms. But my mood swings and fatigue (which were always part of my monthly cycles), were moderate at worst, my sex drive returned, and I had only one episode of what I would describe as a hot flash. Maybe that's because I didn't wait to start having symptoms -- I've been taking Estroven every day since the day I turned forty.

But now you'll have to keep count of how may months you go without a period -- twelve, and you're officially menopausal.

Perimenopause. I'm 49 and going through it. No period for 9 months, then it's back. Emotional rollercoaster at times, brain fog. I'm doing HRT now and it really helps me. But, yeah, I feel old now. I look like my mother. My body composition has shifted. Fun times, lol!

But - I have several friends on that roller coaster right now. Look into Vitex and Maca as they regulate hormones naturally.

I'm actually feeling better since I first posted this. I thought I was losing my mind. I will look into those meds. Thanks.

Do! They are used in the natural fertility community and since I've dropped the DHEA prescription and moved to those I moved my ovulation date from day 8 to day 11/12 and my cycle from 24 days to 27 days. My mom took them when she was going through menopause because her doctor kept telling her she was "too young". It helped her estrogen levels.

I still get mine every once in a while, so I'm not officially menopausal. For a while it was extremely heavy. Now it's irregular and spotty.
I also get peri menopausal migraines, but not as many as I used to. I haven't really had hot flashes.
