If everyone is expected to ACT with decency and respect toward all others then pretty soon the attitudes line up with the behaviors due to natural tendency to avoid cognitive dissonance. Expectations for civil behaviors and actions first can produce changed thought and feelings, which is why Trump is so dangerous because he normalizes bad behavior. And now we have a snow-balling effect occurring with the MAGAts.
