(4,518 posts)I'm a 66, near 67 , year old white woman, who has endured more crap than just about any white man I know. Meanwhile, it isn't just white men, but it's evangelicals, Republican apologists, tea baggers ,misogynists, racists, homophobes, sexists, both men and women... the list goes on...
They better just mind their p's and q's and stay outta my face.
Reminds me of the movie Network -"we're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore."
Really rankles me that women, POC, LGBT, the disabled, etc...have had to take crap for years......,let's end it.

(522 posts)That man has done all he could to make millions of Americans to feel marginalized, to make his "base" to feel superior to all the rest of us. Paraphrasing a Washington Post Opinion headline, he has taught America it is ok to hate again.
I too were a safety pin on my tops and jackets/coats. I like having people ask me why I am doing that. I hope it raises awareness of the fact that not all of us feel safe anymore.
Good luck to you.

(192 posts)I fear for the well-being and future prospects of my brown and black and Muslim and Jewish students. I do some career counseling and have had quite a few students open up to me about their concerns. They are supposed to be worried about their grades and figuring out what career they will love and finding an internship. All of this has been made 100% harder for some students post-election.
Prior to 9-11 we had had many young ladies who wore the hijab - Arab and Indonesian. Most disappeared at the end of that semester. They went back to colleges with more homogeneous populations where they felt safe.
I keep thinking of the protester immediately after the election holding a sign that said, "This is very bad"

(18,124 posts)are in trouble in the United States of Ku Klux Klan. The media created this trumpfuhrer and trumpfuhrer has created some and emboldened others to vent their hate and fear at PoC, Muslims, and with his bannon/goebbels as a chief strategist/propagandist, jewish people also. And that in spite of trumpfuhrer having his jewish son-in-law posing with bannon. I love to be a fly on the wall and hear that post photo-op conversation. This is extremely bad and increasingly dangerous to physical and mental health. Lots of PTSD upcoming. Warfare does that to people.
