Why the Police Need to be more like James Shaw Jr.

I'm posting this in the AfAm Group because well - I think folks back here will get this.

Last Month - James Shaw Jr. with his bare hands stopped a half naked guy with an AR-15 at a Waffle House Restaurant down south.

He wasn't and isn't a police officer.
He's a phone tech.
In an EXTREMELY dangerous situation (four people killed by the killer) he went at the guy and saved his life and others.
The guy ran off, manhunt ensued, etc. etc.

On May 15th a Richmond VA police officer shot and killed a naked black man because his - I dunno - taser wasn't effective. The naked black man had no gun or weapon just - his naked. He (the po po ) used his taser first, and still feared for his life. I read on another thread more hands and feet killed people last year than . . .

I wish that Law Enforcement across America would try to study James Shaw Jr and figure out how they can get more people like him on their police force.

With more and more of these police shootings I'm beginning to think that the profile for a police officer is a big or little dopey wimp who is afraid of their own shadow.

If from these two incidents we can't see how clearly ill suited many of these police officers are ill suited for their career - I don't know.

I think maybe that's the key to all of the police shootings? Just too many wimps and scaredy cats on the police force combined with possible pre-conceived notions about black people? Like really - Sandra Bland was dangerous? Like - really?

I think I'm the only person that it was so CLEAR for - you know?

I just think we need to explore this issue. It doesn't make sense why Mr. Shaw was able to charge a HALF naked guy with an AR-15 with no training, weapon, bullet proof vest, back-up, etc. etc.

Yet one lone officer had to a shoot a naked guy because he posed a threat.

Maybe the really core issue is a lot - I mean a LOT of law enforcement officers need to be stripped of their badges for being freaking wimps!

I think just getting rid of them and replacing them and putting the new people in the same environment with the same training is just going to get police officers doing the same things.

Someone argued with me at one point and tried to prove his point by scanning a page from a law enforcement textbook that said that you had to understand different cultures in the US to deal with different populations. Among the claims were that black people don't love their children in the same way as white people, and don't feel pain as much. It also claimed Jewish people complain a lot. It was horrible. If that's what the textbooks say, then there's one problem. (I googled to try to find a picture of it online but only found similar stuff in nursing textbooks. There aren't that many textbook companies in the US so it's probably similar.)

people involved in the shooting of unarmed POC or like in the case of Sandra Bland are either chickenshit cowards who can hang a woman in her cell, who did nothing worthy of jail time, can shoot an 11-year-old playing with a toy gun, can retreat to a safe place while 17 students and teachers are slaughtered, can shoot and kill an individual 'jaywalking' and on and on. Cowards and true racists, not worthy of the badge.

If they could JUST emulate Mr. Shaw Jr.'s conduct - the country would be much better off.
