http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/bs-md-governor-primary-20180626-story.htmlBolstered by support in the Baltimore region, spending from outside groups and an aggressive union-backed turnout machine, Jealous emerged from the six-way primary as Democrats bet to take on popular Republican Gov. Larry Hogan in November.
His victory over fellow front-runner Prince Georges County Executive Rushern L. Baker III, who was backed by the states political establishment, demonstrated the growing influence of the progressive wing of the Maryland Democratic Party. His win was part of a wave of victories against establishment candidates in state government.
Our goal is to not just win an election but to build a movement, which will allow us to lead into law the new agenda that this state so desperately needs, Jealous told supporters at his Baltimore victory party.
He would be the first African American governor in the state of Maryland. To me - seeing as Frederick Douglass escaped from there? If he can pull this off, in THIS year, at this moment in time with a bunch of foaming at the mouth racist pigs running at this country -
It would be the sweetest little victory.

(90,844 posts)we always needed to and should have but the shit going on shows how much more important it is.
I will 'feel' tremendous empathy for our Liberal, Progressive, Democratic brothers and sister of all races and all walks of life in ALL states.
But I'm thankful - for Phil Murphy. We voted like our lives depended on it last year and I know that him, our Assembly, and our Senate are this emergency brake for New Jerseyans.
Yesterday 'flipped' my mom and brother both from Nixon to Cuomo. My mom gave money from out of district to the woman in the Bronx who eventually won-
But she thinks Cuomo will be a better emergency brake than Nixon for NYers.
Those who have any chance at Democratic Leadership IN STATE - vote for your lives.

Maybe it will help in November seal the fate of many trump Tea Party and NPA aka GOP candidates and incumbents Got to pull out all stops and be "AGRESSIVE" in finding ways to defeat these very dangerous clowns destroying america in favor of their ameriKKKa. Otherwise I will be waiting for this Not sarcasm, this is the abyss we all are headed toward.

(23,340 posts)Here in this 2/3 Democratic state, Hogan has a 70% approval rating. Hogan is moderate, and has a completely Democratic legislature. This is the bluest state I've ever lived in. He has a regular guy appeal that a lot of people like, especially the paler ones. He moved the start of school back after Labor Day, and reduced the cost of our many toll roads, both popular moves. Good luck to Ben Jealous, I will certainly vote for him.
