Jordan Peele went there.

This after his smash hit movie "Us" broke the opening week box office record for "Get Out."
"I don’t see myself casting a white dude as the lead in my movie. Not that I don’t like white dudes,” he said, nodding over to his moderator pal Roberts. “But I’ve seen that movie.” The line drew loud applause and shouts of agreement. “It really is one of the best, greatest pieces of this story, is feeling like we are in this time — a renaissance has happened and proved the myths about representation in the industry are false."

I'd add that I've heard/read Peele say that with the normal ups and downs in life, the every day experience of being black in America is a horror show.

Of the stereotypical-yet-true-more-often-than-not trope of the Black person dying first in the horror movie.

Seriously, he should do this. Kill the only White guy in the movie in the first five minutes. The conservative snowflakes upset about Captain Marvel are going to need something else over which to get outraged.

because it was MY First thought. We need to cross that barrier but you know we'll hear screams of "white genocide."

To me, if we accept what Peele says about his motivation that barring regular life, living as a black person in America is a horror show, then the death of a white person first in his movie can speak to another discussion, a larger narrative that's not explored in an impactful way. And that is, as Michael Cook says, "...don't be fooled, this prison industrial complex has not only swept up black America but all people of limited means; hunting minorities and the poor at rates higher than any other on the planet. This thing grew bigger than anyone could have imagined. It's militarized and increased in scope and aggression. This racist, as it clearly is even if we took all the minorities out of the equation, leaving only the white majority, we would still be over incarcerated. We would still have vile police brutality. We would still have a criminal justice system desperately in need of reform."

My point starts at 5:43

This is the conversation - of immediate white death, that clueless and racist whites and thereby white liberals alike, could not help but engage in. The SQUIRREL! (distraction) of white genocide and, too many times, so-called divisiveness, et cetera has to be dismissed to deepen the conversation instead of silencing it.

TlalocW, thank you for opening an avenue to speak what's on my mind.

But I'll make myself go with family to up the ticket sales, then spend the rest of the movie slumped in my seat with my hands over my eyes. The trailer alone gives me nightmares.

But there's nothing like the feeling of desperately clinging to my husband, who HAS to be brave though knowing we're safe is an added bonus that he's there for me, as well as IRL, is so comforting and sexy

Hey, don't judge a girl for holding on to all the possible joy

without his larger metaphoric lens of discrimination and inequality. Sheesh! "Get Out" is now a college course that focuses on the shit show of the fragility of black life no matter where black people are.
