The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was founded in 1909 to ensure the rights of all people and to eliminate racial discrimination. The organization is dedicated to educating the community about Constitutional rights. They inform the public of discriminatory acts and use legal means to ensure the enactment and enforcement of federal, state and local laws that protect civil rights and guarantee equality.

Click the "About NAACP" button on the left side of the home page to find basic information about the organization or to read their mission and vision statements.

Join the NAACP on their website. Click the "Become a Member" button located at the top of the any page on the site.

Fill in your name, address, phone number and credit card information in the specified locations. An annual fee is charged by the NAACP for membership. There are several different membership options to choose from. Choose the package that is right for you. After completely filling out the form, click the "Join Now" button at the bottom of the page to complete the application process.

Find a local NAACP unit by returning to the homepage. Look on the left side of the window as you scroll down. Click the "Find Your Local Unit" button. Click your state to get a listing of Units in your region.

Contact your local NAACP unit and ask how you can join the organization. The contact can also provide information about local meetings and events.
