And " journey towards a preordained time " by Renata Mcmann. It about Jesus from a atheist perspective. Basically Mary was a time traveler in the first century and gave birth to Jesus.
They go back and forth through time, inadvertently acting out the bible. And he surfs.

Just started it. I had been fifth on the reserves at the library, took my last book back and asked how close I was to the front on this book, and they had it in a pile to call me. Good, I loved the first book in the Century series.

intense - still very good...but more of a slow simmer.

I am enjoying it....I don't need intense to enjoy a book (although Key to Rebecca was nail-biting intense). I just love historical novels, and I am glad that Follett has decided to tackle them. I am about 3/4 through now. Terrible times in the world.

Pillars of Earth, and Eye of the Needle are my favorites.

Figured I should join that bandwagon!

detective books. I kind of switched over to the Jack Reacher books (Lee Child)...but he isn't near as likeable as Harry

I like the fact that Harry is aging, too. Sorta like me.

Although to be honest, in that LA I'm more of an Elvis Cole/Joe Pike fan. Elvis shows up in one of Connelley's books and Harry shows up in one of Crais's I guess that's what happens when you allow authors to become buddies.

He also has some nice standalones. Two Minute Rule. Demolition Angel. His latest, Suspect, has a K9 team where both the man and dog are suffering from PTSD.

But Elvis and Joe are the core fun. West coast Spenser and Hawk.

The life of Mind is so appealing to me after so much World this week.
