Fascinating look at the presidency so far. He is a truly gifted writer, and many of his insights are extremely moving.
And, damn, am I glad he was POTUS during the financial crisis, rather than someone else (who shall remain nameless).

(14,176 posts)I just finished the chapter where he discusses visiting wounded troops, and how its easier to make calls on policy from the cheap seats, where there are no consequences of any decisions.
I really miss him.

(16,953 posts)he really is a very good writer. The tone is conversational...really well done. And having been born and raised in Illinois, I especially enjoyed the parts about his early career there. Totally forgot he got crushed by Bobby Rush in a congressional election...
