How to terrorize and completely control a population. After Irish independence, they could no longer blame the British for all evils. So the Church rose in power as Ireland became a theocracy and choose women and girls as the new devils.

Major emigration flood as women fled the country.

Using nuns to torture and terrorize and control the women as slave labor enriching the church.

Not ancient history. Last laundry closed in 1996.
