Our Trump humping TN state legislature is discussing if they want to outlaw cousins marrying or not, right now. And there are GOP idiots who are against the law.... because it's only 2nd cousins.

They outlawed 1st cousins marrying as recently as 2020.

Including CA, NY, And NJ permit marriage between cousins. (IIRC, there are about 20, roughly half of them blue states.)

And there is no medical reason to prohibit it - the very minor increase in birth defects is lower than, for example, the rate of complications for older women giving birth.

It's not really a dumb country bumpkin thing.

it is impossible to get STD by having sex with your sister.
