Related: About this forumWhile dining out one evening
A man and woman are dining in a restaurant. Theyre obviously in love, and things are becoming serious in their relationship.
A violinist is playing romantic music. The lights in the restaurant are dimmed down low.
The man fidgets nervously and says, Honey, Im.. ah, Im not sure how to say this.
The woman smiles, holds back some tears, and responds, Just say it.
The man picks up a bottle from the table and says, Wor-Chester-Shire.

(6,192 posts)'Tis olde English, and as for alle olde English, it has morphed in pronunciation over the centuries.
Repeat after me . . . Woostersheer Sauce!
Methings young lady was hoping for more romantic words of affection!
(You know the lines, they start with . . . your skin is like alabaster, and your eyes pools with depth I have never known before.)
Now, work out how to say "Its a braw bricht moonlicht nicht"!
(As the young lad said to his lass behind the kirk at night before he had his knowledge of her.)
Hint: Try to read Chaucer in the olde English. Pronounce it literally, as if you are German.
As far as the joke goes though, it's pathetic. I'd rate it 1 out on 10. Do better!
