Within the Walls
We can never go outside
Without permission from the Overlords
We can never see outside the walls
They say its unsafe
They say its risky
They tell us danger outside abounds
We live within the border
Surrounded by a wall so high
Thick, impenetrable, permanent
Within our cozy cubes
Screens and walls of gray
We cannot leave
In this dark and dismal place
We work hard throughout the day
Always too much work to go around
So we stay well into the night
And then shuttle off to sleep
Just to wake and do it all again
Every day
they tell us that were nothing
By the effort to make it easier
The effort they dont make
The Overlords just dont care
As they fire the ten percent
And then increase the load
They break our spirits
They break our backs
They wreck our minds
No wonder so many are drunkards
In the little spare time they have
As their lives mean nothing but labor
Within this countrys walls,
Built to keep the foreigner out
Now trapping the citizen in
No escape to a better place
Just perpetual overtime
Perpetual pain
The Overlords just laugh
As they rake the money in
