lying half awake half asleep teeter on the edge of nothing
as past present and future blend slowly into a mix of time
the sour sourer the sweet sweeter as the change is coming
tears of heart and soul to mend or to fit every ragged line
drift between heaven and hell there are no correct choices
dipping a finger into purgatory to see if it’s too hot or cold
watching stars deep in the well hearing the echoing voices
seeking solitude and sanctuary amidst the timid or the bold
elysium eludes the weary warriors withering on dead vines
dying with the deeds unseen the actions ignored by history
either being shameful or glorious the silent ringing chimes
wondering what may have been all now steeped in misery
moments pass unnoticed uncounted litter the narrow way
as heroes continue yet undaunted dissolving into the clay
