Billionaire couple found dead in their basement had been strangled, Canadian police say
By Cleve R. Wootson Jr. December 18 at 8:56 AM
The billionaire couple were found strangled, their bodies dangling from the railing around their basement lap pool.
Honey and Barry Sherman died of ligature neck compression, a form of strangulation in which a cord or rope is used to exert fatal pressure on a persons neck, Toronto police said.
It was a gory and puzzling detail in the deaths of the Shermans, who made billions in the pharmaceutical industry, then gave a significant chunk of their fortune away to charity.
Shocked neighbors called the Shermans lovely people. Now, their deaths are being probed by homicide investigators.

(3,433 posts)9. Indeed. Like assuming their careers led to their death. Nt

(7,888 posts)2. I expect the "Mounties"
to solve the murders. Death by strangulation often indicates a personal motive, family members, or so the crime writers say.

(57,619 posts)7. Someone with strength and more than one perp?
How else could you subdue two people while you strangle them one at a time?

(7,888 posts)11. Put one under restraints
and further terrorize both. It is proven, people like Bundie used fear to manipulate his victims. What do I know?

(57,619 posts)12. The one spouse you are restraining is fighting you. Gives the other spouse the time to call 911.
Unless you wait until the spouses are in separate parts of the house.
You grab the wife first and use her as a hostage to make the husband docile.
Yes it could work I suppose with one perp.
But I think male perp, strong.
I don't think it is easy to strangle someone to death.
Yes what do I know?

(3,867 posts)4. strangled & can't say foul play involved??????
Homicide Detective Brandon Price told reporters on Saturday that police cannot say 100% with certainty whether or not foul play was involved.
