Police arrived at the store where they found Lisa Smith, 46, screaming at the entryway and chasing her dog named Bo.
As the dog Bo ran up to customers, Smith "erractically" put store displays in her shopping cart, according to a Facebook post from the Eau Claire Police. Staff asked Smith to leave the store. She went to the parking lot and did "karate moves," police said. As she was doing this, dog Bo got a box of cornbread muffin mix and tried to leave the store.
Officers arrested Smith. She fought with officers and tried to kick out a window in the police car. She was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
Meanwhile, Smith's son, Benny Vann, 25, ran to the back of the store and removed his clothes. He got new clothing from the racks but did not pay. Officers approached Vann, but he refused to stop and tried to run over one of them with a scooter.
Police also arrested Vann. He was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, disorderly conduct and retail theft. Officers took the dog to the Humane Association, police said.

(348 posts)...there's very few substances that make the choices they were making seem rational in the subjective moment, and none as readily available as methamphetamine. My guess is the son was changing his clothes to go incognito and elude his mothers captors. Were he sober, he'd have had nothing to worry about besides his drug addled mother... because he was so "spun" he assumed the cops were after him, too.
I volunteer part of my time helping people with the substance abuse issues I once encumbered myself with. This story was immediately identifiable for what it is. These people need to be detoxed and treated with empathetic humanity, not arrested and set further behind.

(5,123 posts)on molly. What is now called molly is not MDMA, it's a bunch of chemicals made in Chinese labs. Basically, it's bath salts 2.0.
Only 13% of molly samples tested in NY contained any MDMA.
"Molly, however, rarely contains pure MDMA. When tested, Molly is typically found to contain a combination of dangerous synthetic and other drugs, including the same ingredients found in the drug called bath salts. The synthetic drugs found in Molly can cause chest pains, paranoia, hallucinations, psychotic and violent behavior, dehydration, kidney failure and, in several instances, death. Molly samples have also been found to contain addictive drugs, such as methamphetamine, heroin, ketamine, PCP and amphetamines. The ingredients in Molly have been implicated in the emergency room visits and deaths of people who assumed they were taking pure MDMA."

When the "designer drugs" were first hitting the scene 20+ years ago there wasn't the organized crime infrastructure in place to monopolize the production of these substances. The party scenes in major cities were primarily supplied by local entrepreneurial chemists/alchemists. Much like with small boutique businesses, these small batch manufacturers, out of necessity, prioritized purity and potency. The cartels and crime syndicates are like Walmart, making inferior products available in mass and at steep discounts. They co-opt or kill designer chemists.

(24,107 posts)the town say its an university town, with alcohol and meth, and our old friend, prescription drugs being the locals' drugs of choice. Seems to be the unfortunate trifecta of drugs you see in rural Missouri too, and probably a lot other places too.

(120,883 posts)There's a new synthetic drug called Flakka, which has become common in Florida (of all places) which seems to induce people to take their clothes off and run around barking or doing other strange things. One thing the drug does is raise the user's body temperature to the same as a very high fever, which might be why they get naked.
