Free at Amazon: Novel, "Mack the Ripper" Marxist take on the Whitechapel Murders

I was reading one of Poe's Dupin stories and I thought "What would the world's first detective make of Jack the Ripper?" Answer: he would look beyond the sex which captured public attention. He would ask what the net result of the murders and mutilations of streetwalkers in the poorest area of London was? He would ask "Who would know the area well? Who might the police choose not to capture? Who benefited?"

The answer: a local pimp. As in Brecht's Mack the Knife. Who became "Mack the Ripper." The mystery is more complicated than that. And it's framed as a supernatural fantasy with a vampire who heals those from whom he drinks and a boy who has the Voice of God crossing paths with union organizers, social reformers, prostitutes, nobles and criminals in 1888 London East End.
