http://nanowrimo.org/Also known as National Novel Writing Month. Happens during the month of November.
I am going to write a novel this year. While the big event is still two months away, I am doing my outline and character development now. I have moments of clarity and get them on paper. The dialog and the showing not telling is what I will concentrate on in November.
Is anyone else going to write their novel this November? If so, I would like to offer my support and I am looking for a writing support buddy.
Good luck!

My friend did it and enjoyed it immensely.

(23,156 posts)The first time I got my 50,000 words and it was quite satisfying. I don't think that work will ever be able to be publishable, but the sense of accomplishment for making the word count, and finishing an entire novel, however bad it is, was very gratifying.
I tried it a second time and lost steam.
These days I'm trying to whip various other things into shape, so I doubt I'll do it this year, but one never knows.

Thanks for posting.

(1,422 posts)Not sure I am able, but I am going to give it a sincere try this year. Contemplating the story now, and escaping said contemplation with a DU drop by. It ain't lookin so good.

(1,987 posts)I would have replied to you sooner but I was working on my manuscript.
I am hand writing my thoughts, scenes and ideas into notebooks. Yesterday, I did manage to type the first six pages and edit them a bit.
So I guess technically I am cheating for starting early but I really want my book to get published when I am done. I keep having these images and ideas pop into my head and need to write them down, so I am.
The end of November is not far away and I want to have my first very rough draft complete. I am not a writer but I used to write. The editing and rewriting is going to be a huge task. I do have a group of people that will help with proof-reading, editing and emotional feed-back.
If you need a writing buddy, I'm your girl. Feel free to pm me anytime.
I am currently an at-home-mom to a four year old. Yesterday my son was piling legos on me as I was writing a scene. Surprisingly, it was not a distraction. Between him running around, cartoons playing and being asked to take legos apart for him, it was the perfect amount of background noise and activity.
Thanks for posting and good luck!

(1,422 posts)I am still in the story contemplation stage and taking an online class through the local college. With little success or progress, I worked on a story that gets imagined as a Disney/Dreamworks animation. So I am told by those who have read the beginning. What I haven't done is work out the story completely enough. Heavily stalled for the moment, so I will do something else for Nano. This is the first year I will have sufficient time so I want to do it write .
There is a story, a different story type and genre, that is bouncing around my skull, so I am now free-writing daily with the hopes of molding that into something with character sketches and outline. Wish me luck.
What are writing buddy expectations? I am always open to ideas and feedback and need all the help I can get .
Thanks,

(8,655 posts)Spent the day trying to decide which project/s to work on for WriMo. I have a novel I started for NaNoWriMo two years ago, then a week into November, life turned upside down and I never got back to it. I decided to continue with it last year, then half way through November my sister-in-law was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer so I dropped the novel to be with my brother and his family.
As the last project seems completely jinxed, I feel like I need to choose a fresh tale to start. I have a couple in the planning stages. Just can't decide which. Not a lot of days left to decide either.
My hope is that doing NaNoWriMo will get me back into writing and focused on doing it every day. It's a habit that needs to be fed with me.
Good luck everyone!

(18,792 posts)I sort of have the main ideas for plot, structure, two main characters, setting, genre.. nothing written down like an outline, though. Maybe I should do that today...
The hardest part will be keeping off the internet, wasting my free time in creative procrastination instead of creative writing.
