People just cheat all out in the open these days. And now its made its way to the Olympics.
French marathon runner Morhad Amdouni was near the 28km mark when he approached a water station for the athletes. Needless to say, if you were directly behind Amdouni you probably had a hard time grabbing some water.

If you are going to do something foul to get a competitive advantage, you at least have to be smoother than this. I dont know if Amdouni intended to make life worse for his competitors while they race in 84-degree weather and increased humidity, but it certainly looks pretty bad when you are giving a high five to the row of water bottles and only grabbing the last possible one.
Since its the Olympics, organizers had workers at the ready and a plethora of water bottles to replenish the table. But still, its hardly Olympic spirit that makes one runner topple over multiple bottles of water during a marathon race that already had 30 guys drop out, likely due to exhaustion and hydration issues.

Just across the Lee bridge someone at a water station tried to give him water and screwed up his juggle. Hey they were there to help. I told the juggler guy that doesnt count. He laughed.

(8,387 posts)Everyone got water, because there was a SECOND TABLE just two meters further down (and a third). They set up multiple tables because shit happens.
Youll notice that, unlike the runners in front of him, he is sandwiched in the pack and reaching semi-blind while awkwardly bending over and running.
There is a possibility this was accidental, and he was nearly falling.
Bottom line, if you show the rest of the clip going forward, everyone gets water at the second table there. So, if he was trying to cheat, he did a shitty job by not taking out the rest of the water at the next table.

(8,387 posts)Im trying to find a postable version of the longer clip. The clip in the OP cuts out right before the second table comes into view.
It is dishonest not to include the full context. But this plays well to certain people in France, for certain reasons.

(6,346 posts)It was knocked on the course, where it appears that no one slipped on a bottle and fell.
I hope the French governing body for track and field tells him to take a hike.

(115,324 posts)It's not that hard to grab a bottle of water.

I'm not the only one to thing it was an accident. See post 6.

(115,324 posts)Other runners could have tripped on those. That's no accident.
I don't see post 6 so that must be someone I put on ignore. Confirms I was right to do so.

(115,324 posts)I competed in road races for over 40 years. I never had a problem grabbing a drink of water.

(8,387 posts)He is a top level runner representing a nation in which many would just as soon not acknowledge their historical legacy in Africa.
A black man does not get the benefit of the doubt or even the opportunity to speak.
No one in this thread cares about what his side of the story may be. No one cares that every runner got a drink at the additional tables just past the deceptively edited clip.
People are looking at the hand but dont realize he is only partially visible as he stumbles between two other runners to reach the table and attempt to grasp cold bottles which are covered in condensation.
