Related: About this forumI can't believe ESPN is televising a Pickleball tournament.
How did this sport with the unfortunate name come about? The court looks like a mini tennis court.

(19,382 posts)It used to be for retirement communities. But it is very popular among all ages now. Its not going away. Watch Olympics take it in the Olympics after this one.

(19,382 posts)It can be fun. Id never join a league or anything. But for a couple hours on a beautiful day, it can be fun and a decent workout.

(5,809 posts)But I see my grandson and his young professional friends playing in a major city. I see my son in law playing with his middle aged friends in a suburban park district, and I see my neighbors here in our retirement community in Florida ripping out our tennis courts and replacing them with pickleball courts. Very popular and growing for all ages. Exercise good for all.

(3,544 posts)Not much going on if youre not into baseball. They have to show something.
I was at an Applebees recently and they had ESPN 8 on one TV, for some reason. They were showing guys skipping rocks across the water. No, really.

Some engineer is probably looking for a job today because the audio from the play-by-play & analyst was awful the entire first half.
I went back again with a few minutes left in the 3rd quarter & it was finally fixed.
But, for a minimum of half the game the broadcast team was barely audible and what we could hear sounded like a 60s phone call.

(63,378 posts)Last week couple of really good games.
I just like the wide open style of play. Haven't cared much for American pro football for decades.

(71,335 posts)21 home losses in a row? And, i thought my Bears stunk!
That's just awful.
rurallib
(63,378 posts)you are right, it was awful.
When the guy said "21 home losses in a row" I thought that is Tampa Bay in the 70s (or 80s) awful

(71,335 posts)People were asking him his opinion of his team's execution. He said "I'm in favor of it."
Now, THAT'S awful football.

(441 posts)I was just listening to something on the radio the other day about this. It was invented in Washington state, it is now the official state sport. Interesting story of how it came to be and its popularity rise over the years.

I thought that could cause you to get RSV (per ads I've seen ad nauseum).
