grow upFormer NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has written a letter to the New York Jets offering his services to the struggling team.
In a letter released by the rapper J Cole on Instagram, Kaepernick who addresses Jets general manager Joe Douglas says he would be honored to join the team and lead the practice squad with the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week.
Following Aaron Rodgers season-ending Achilles injury in the teams opening game of the year, the Jets who lost to the New England Patriots on Sunday to drop to 1-2 on the year have been forced to turn to Zach Wilson as their starting quarterback, who has floundered in the position.
I am sure of my ability to provide you with an elite QB option if, God forbid, QB1 goes down, Kaepernick wrote. However, I know that there may naturally be uncertainties from you and possibly from others about my playing abilities.

but I don't think it will happen as the owners colluded to black ball seven years ago.
IMO he should've gone to Canada and played in the CFLand won maybe won a championships as a QB. That's how Warren Moon attracted attention and made it to the NFL...the teams back then wouldn't give him an opportunity to play QB

protest all the police killings of unarmed Black men going on in many parts of the country, opportunities dried up.
It's pretty obvious he got black balled as no team would touch him or even bring him into pre-season training to take a look.
The only thing was that "tryout" a couple of years ago that didn't pan out...he switched it to a different location at the last minute because of his paranoia of the League's intentions.
I've followed the story pretty closely as he's a fraternity brother of mine and that incident I just mentioned, was the only "opportunity" he's had.
Sure seems to be collusion to me as a QB who took a team to the Super Bowl, and with as many QBs who have been injured in the past seven years, you'd think a team at least would have called him in to take a look. Hell, the Colts called Phillip Rivers out of retirement to play last year.
Pretty obvious he was black balled.

(4,640 posts)In 2016: after being replaced by Blaine Gabbert, Denver tried to trade for him but he refused to take a pay cut.
In 2017: brought in by Seattle for tryout as free agent. Baltimore considered him but after his girlfriend the owner to a slave owner that was dropped. There were other teams reported to be interested (Carolina, NY Jets?). This was also about the time everyone heard about his $20 million demands.
Then he filed the lawsuit at which point everyone shut up. First rule any lawyer will tell you in a lawsuit is don't talk to the other side except thru lawyers.
In 2019: Both the AAF and XFL reached out to him but he still demanded $20 million/year. They stopped talking to him after that.
All for a QB who has a 60% completion rate and QB rankings that dropped from 12-15 after the super bowl to upper 20s in 2015 & 2016.

Can't be worst than that sorry starte the Jets have now. What would it hurt for them to call him in to take a look?

(4,640 posts)Equivalent to about $45 million today.

(57,517 posts)like you made it sound like in your previous post. You wrote:
"...but he still demanded $20 million/year."
So he didn't get greedy, or undersell himself, just asked for basically a-middle-of-the-pack pay rate.
But let's get back to the issue at hand. The Jets need help. QBs are not faling out of trees. They should give Kap a look to see what he's still got.
Angleae
(4,640 posts)As far as the pay goes, he wanted to be paid as top 10 but performed as bottom 10 (bottom 5 actually)

(57,517 posts)while all the other QBs except his counterpart on the other SB team were at home watching.
Not bad at all so stop with the how poor a QB he was. All the others were watching him in the game, as they didn't get their team there.
Now again, back to the issue at hand you seem to be avoiding. The Jets need help badly and it won't cost them anything to see if he can help them.

(4,640 posts)Jimmy Garoppolo also went to the super bowl (same team too). Is he any good? Hell no, he's been stinking ever since getting to Vegas. There is a fairly long list of starting QBs who went to the super bowl that actually aren't any good.
AS far as the issue at hand:
#1: depends on how much he wants
#2: who gets cut to make a roster slot (the one Rogers had has already been filled)

And one other very obvious thing...leave it to the professional football people who have years of evaluation of player talent and ability, instead of relying on your very obvious dislike for this particular man.
