Happy 88th birthday to one of the best pitchers the game has ever seen, Sandy Koufax!

The Dodgers legend was a 4x World Series Champion, 3x Cy Young Award winner, 7x All-Star, the 1963 NL MVP and was inducted in to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.

(We named our dog after him!)

Dodgers-Cubs. I think it was 1963. Koufax vs. Kenny Holtzman. Koufax gave up 5 runs in the first as I recall. Didn't finish the inning. Holtzman got knocked out in the top of the second.

Other than that day, he seldom made a mistake.

and Koufax was pitching for the Dodgers. In the first inning the Pirates scored 4 runs off Sandy and the manager comes out to the mound and I yell, don't take him out yet. I was a Little League pitcher. They left Koufax in the game and he went on to beat the Pirates that day.
