Former NFL Coach Tony Dungy Sends a Blunt Message About Taylor Swift Attending GamesEach week, millions of Taylor Swift fans tune into Kansas City Chiefs games in hopes of catching a glimpse of the pop superstar cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. Despite the increased viewership her attendance has brought to the NFL, some folks are displeased with the "distraction" from the sportincluding former NFL player/coach, Tony Dungy.
When asked about the "Taylor Swift effect" on sports and the NFL during a recent interview with Fox News, Dungy didn't hold back his opinion.
"That's the thing that's disenchanting people with sports now," the NFL Hall of Famer said. "There's so much on the outside coming inentertainment value and different things taking away from what really happens on the field."
Swifties definitely took note of Dungy's diss and reacted via social media. One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "At this point, Taylor Swift is a lot better for football, and the world, than Tony Dungy."

Brett Favre Makes Bold Prediction About Taylor Swift if Chiefs Don't Make It to Super Bowl
Bretty Favre, Taylor Swift
Ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs facing off against the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the NFL playoffs, Brett Favre made a bold prediction about Taylor Swift if the Chiefs don't make it to the Super Bowl.
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and the pop superstar went public with their relationship when Swift showed up to support Kelce at a home game in September 2023. Since then, a media frenzy has ensued each time the "Cruel Summer" singer attends a Chiefs matchup.
On Saturday, Jan. 13, the Chiefs face off against the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the NFL playoffs. And Favre admitted that fans will almost certainly blame Swift if the team doesn't go all the way this year.
"If they don't win it or get to the Super Bowl, people are going to say, 'That's why,'" the retired Green Bay Packers quarterback told TMZ Sports.

(5,005 posts)As for Favre's remarks, he's right: if they don't make it to the Super Bowl, she will get blamed by many fans. But, that would not be a precedent. Witness (or Google if you're unfamiliar) the whole Tony Romo/Jessica Simpson episode. Some Dallas fans saw her as bad luck and dubbed her "Yoko Romo," blaming her for Tony's bad play at crunch time. Fair? Nah, but it has happened before.
