https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39435992/sources-commanders-hire-cowboys-dc-dan-quinn-new-coachThe Washington Commanders are hiring Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their head coach, league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Quinn served as Dallas' defensive coordinator the past three seasons. The Cowboys ranked a combined fifth in points and seventh in yards. Under Quinn, the Cowboys led the NFL with 93 forced turnovers.
Quinn also compiled a 43-42 record in five-plus seasons as the Atlanta Falcons head coach. He led the Falcons to the Super Bowl during the 2016 season, when they lost to the Patriots in overtime -- after leading 28-3.

(5,767 posts)Is Bill Belichek's coaching career finally over? No one seems to be interested in hiring him after they've interviewed him. He'd do well to just ride off into the sunset and enjoy the fruits of one of the most successful careers in NFL history.

I think the big wall Belichick put up was that he wanted direct access to the owner like he had in NE. Head of football operations and GMs werent going along with that.
Bill is barely over .500 without Brady* and Campbell looked great as DC with Micah Parsons
.well see.
*Bill was the DC for the Giants during the Parcell era but he had LT.

(20,244 posts)His stock will go up as he waits on the sidelines. Barring a health issue, I don't see him letting go of his ambition of owning the record for most wins.

(5,767 posts)At his age, he needs a year off, and might just like it enough to retire for good. Maybe he and Brady can enter some celebrity golf tournaments and play as a team.

(5,767 posts)It's not his fault if Dallas has been cursed to fall apart every year in the playoffs. I wish him well in DC. As was mentioned before, he's got a lot of opportunity with favorable draft picks and cap money to start rebuilding right away.

(10,878 posts)the former losing coach of the Falcons. Remember when the birds blew a 28 point lead to the Pats in the Super Bowl? Who was their HC? Yep. Him. Nobody's first choice, per my spousal unit (who is a lifelong Commies fan, sad to say).
