The last three have been Sonatas, limited. That is because I want the automated brake system which only comes with that model sedan.

I drive 50 -60k per year. My present one is a 2018 and has 59k on it.

I have NEVER had to take any of them in for anything but oil change an brakes.

It had great leg room, nice amenities. We could fit a lot in the back with the seats folded down, surprising given the lines of the cars design. It was really well done. And no one could beat that power train warranty. Not that we ever needed it. Just, like you said, brakes and oil. Oh, and tires, light bulbs.

We have a 2014 Kia Optima Hybrid and we love it. Killer warranty and we average about 43 mpg highway and about 37 mpg around town. I've heard their mileage ratings have gone up in recent years.

And he's never had an issue. Pretty much bulletproof per his description.

It was that device they have that "senses" the traction and supposedly sends power to whatever wheel needs it. Can't remember what it was called, but it just could not get going in snow.

Bought a 2010 Fit -- not so happy.

My 2010 Fit did not bring joy. Didn't break or anything, just slow, weird tranny loud on the highway.
ANYHOO my red neck tRumper neighbor has a Hyundai hybrid and loves it. He says it gets FANTASTIC gas miles and never breaks.. Then again his other vehicle is a gas guzzler Ford F150 jacked up with big ass tires and a AR15 window sticker... uffda

end -- like how fast the covering of the steering wheel wore out. Or: I have a key-open for the driver's side and it wore out after a few years; would cost something like $500 to fix AND THEY'VE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE SOMETHING LIKE 2001.(Sorry to shout but it makes me mad.)

I'm a Honda guy. I've had a bunch of 'em and the Fit was the worst.. Nice idea but the execution was a bit wanting... Almost as bad but not quite as a VW Rabbit I owned. It literally fell apart around me..

If I recall, when the car first came out, it was a throw-away. Run it for a year or so and it would break down.

Around 1998, the company closed production. They reviewed the repair records from dealers and re-engineered the car. That is what we have today.

That is the opposite business plan from American made cars:
Make shit.
When people figure out its shit,
Put more chrome on it.

My last Amer. car was a Ford, brand new at $41k. I kept it two years. It would break down on the N.J. Turnpike, on my way to work. Dealer couldn't figure out what was wrong. This happened several times until I was afraid to drive it anywhere because I didn't know if I would make it back home.

That was 2004. I paid cash and drove it until 2015. It was boring but dependable. The 2013 Elantra was also boring and dependable. Being 74, boring good. Dependable is double good.

Kia was like a Honda and the Hyundai was like a Toyota.. And to top it off they are owned by the same company... I'm assuming it's like Chevy and GMC... Identical cousins...
