Good bye, my friend.

We've spent 17 years and traveled 128,488 miles together. We did not have a great start. I hit a *&*^%$$## deer the night I took you home from the dealer. You made up for it though....the best, most comfortable vehicle that ran like a champ.

But.....it's time to go.

I need your floor space.
I really don't need 2 vehicles to live with. Inspections, registrations, oil changes...it's too much.
I garaged you winters and counted on my 4wd Dodge truck to get me up the hill....sorry, you really couldn't be counted on.

But look on the bright side....I gifted you to my 18 YO nephew. Oh. he's gonna love you now. Best prepare for a lot more exercise, sweetheart!

On edit: 2007 Passat, 2.0L Turbo. 35 mpg hi-way (6th gear). Except when I was driving Boston traffic (like the SE Expressway) - 5th gear with great reaction to a 4th gear shift.

2nd edit: There are a few "minor problems.
* Front driver seat - minor wear - needs a decent covering.
* Lumbar adjustment unattached, can be used to adjust.
* Top right tray jammed shut
* Rear seat 1/3 panel frozen, up, in place.
* Bondo required in the front driver side panel. Bro says nephew is up to the task.

Nothing else wrong, really. Carfax tells me it's worth $1380.00 on trade in. To nephew, it's a $7500.00 - and soon-to-be-classic vehicle.

Always serviced at VW on schedules. Nephew will be traveling from NH to ME daily to attend Voc school - design/program and CNC machining. He knows what he wants.

Bonus, nephew's a Deadhead. Actually plays in a jamband. Machined a medallion with the 'Steal Your Face' logo as a Christmas present.

…of clutch & shifters!

We gave our automatic 2018 Mazda CX5 to our daughter when she graduated from college in 2021 so she wouldn’t have to buy a new car when they were crazy expensive.

We kept the 2006 Honda with 250,000 miles because I love a manual transmission and she’s still reliable for a weekend trip from Phoenix to LA.

You’re a good Uncle!

My son asked me...."why didn't you ask me?" My answer, "Because you can't drive it." Sad, but true.

Where-ever home was - not a lot of daily mileage. Fact is, it got the right amount of exercise without a lot of extreme demands.

We had a Toyota Tercel that we bought new with 150k on her. Great little car. We passed it to our neighbors with 2 teens. They put on another 75k. . They passed it to some friends with kids and the total came to 300+k. That little car got one more owner and many many more miles before she came to her final destination. It was fun to see her journey. If that car could talk! 😁💗
