Ferrari is going a different way with in car navi

They see that most people use their phones and like the in car mirroring of the phone offered by google and Apple.

It also means they don't have to become a software company and try to keep up with every change and pushing out changes to the older models.

2. I don't think much of these mostly digital dash controls.

Where youi have to fight through several screens to turn something on. It might be better if you are very familiar wtih the system and there is no tactile feedback. I only rent cars and usually get a different car andormake each time.

5. It operates with your phone.

This means it uses the phone for updates, Siri, maps, etc.
It was a genius move.

Most people have their phone with them all the time anyway.

6. Including car controls

Like heater, radio, etc.
We just use google maps when driving for navi. Don't like hooking up to the car and having to share everything with the car company or the software company.

9. My 2011 CR-V has no touch screen. The radio and other features have buttons.

Some 2011 CR-V models had a touch-screen radio. I think that it is good idea that dashboards are going back to manual controls.

A family member just bought a 2025 CRV and I was surprised to see a return to touch knobs.
Apparently people did not like all the touch screen nonsense.

This family member had always driven mostly Lexus SUVs and LOVES his 2025 CR-V.
Says it is a better ride than his Lexus.

He never had CarPlay before, he had an installed Nav in his lexus and it was always out of date
and incomplete. And difficult to use with the touch pad, etc.

He is totally blown away with the CRV CarPlay. Always up to date, complete, so easy to use with
voice prompts with Siri. He can always get texts on the screen and phone calls.

The safety features on the CRV itself are amazing. He will never go back to the Lexus brand.
He said even the new Lexus cannot compete with the new CRV.

11. I really do too

Since I only rent, and don't have a teenager to work the system. Rental cars don't have a manual to even cover the basics of operation. Zero standardization. I grew up with 2radio bands and 5 push button presets.
Thanks for the clarifications.

12. On Fb I saw a post with an image of an old-style car radio.

The caption to the photo is something to the effect, "Young Kids Today Think They're So Smart. Ask One To Program The Stations On This."

Here is the Meme:

As a side note, I let the charge in the battery in my 2011 CR-V drain out. When I charged the battery, the radio refused to boot up until I punched in the secret 10-digit code provided by the manufacturer. I bought the car used, and no such code was provided to me. I do not listen to the radio anyway. Whenever I visit a dealer regarding an existing recall notice, I will request that it look up the code for me.

13. I have heard that changing your battery can cause everything to reset.

I guess you can get small 12v batteries to attach and keep the electronics powered while you do the replacement.

No actual experience.
