help me pick put my next ride.

so, i’m dumping my ford transit connect, which i absolutely despise. i bought it from carmax, and it didnt have the tech i wanted. but i’ve found many reasons to hate it, including the small fortune it just cost to replace the battery. it’s halfway under the dash, and required quite a bit of disassembly to get to.

but other than that, it’s what i need. small landlord, urban farmer, need to cart fairly large stuff around. dont have passengers often, but appreciate being able to cart a few ppl, esp as the election is upon us. i dont drive that much and dont believe in new cars.

looking on carvana today. they dont have a category for crossovers. but looking at a nissan kicks, maybe a jeep. had an 86 grand cherokee, and adored it. renegade looks cute.
or i cd just go w a subie outback. but taller wd b better.
saw a mitsubishi i liked too. dont remember the name.
no place to plug an electric anything.
no korean cars. hopefully this is my last car, and i am told that the parts r expensive and slow to ship.

thoughts? need to do this soon, as i let the city sticker expire on the ford, so i’m hiding it off street.

4 wheel drive , 4 cyl has plenty of pep. I get 23 mpg on the hiway.
It’s got great headroom for tall people and leg room too.
Plenty of space in the back esp when you flatten my back seat. Easily carry 12 bags of mulch or a dresser on its side.
Good safety rating, extra bottom clearance for bumps in the road and I’ve needed that a couple of times.
The new Forester is almost as big, if you don’t need the room.

Picked the Jeep as one of the five worst.
My brother has one and replaced the transmission twice, his wife loved it when they bought it, but now hates it compared to the Toyota Highlander, which is now their go-to. I myself have a '07 4Runner with 226k on it, still getting same mileage as when I purchased it new. In all those miles, the rear wheel bearings (at over 150K), one alternator (at 215K), right front wheel bearing (at 220K), a few batteries and wiper blades.

My husband says Toyotas are the easiest to work on. Daughter has a subie, does all the work on it herself.

once upon a time i did my own. frustrates me no end to not even b able to figure out where shit is.
on this ford, the neg batt terminal is under the dash, even tho it’s wired over from the inaccessible battery. for a nickel more, they cd b where u can find/reach them.

An AWD pickup would have cost twice a Forester, which I got in 2018. I really miss the pickup but stuff stays dry in the Forester. Last model with no internet anything!!!

Flat panel is terrible, all glare, but they are much better these days.
