Is there a way to tell the year made/model on a Ford truck tailgate?

The previous owners left a tailgate behind in the barn when they moved. He told us that he thought it was for an '86. But, after searching around online, the closest in appearance I can find is from the mid 70's.

The husband wants to get rid of it. It's in pretty good shape, and I'm sure that it has some value, but I am trying to figure out how to advertise it. We have looked for a part number, and the only thing we were able to find was "011491". Nothing comes up when searching by that number.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I'm saying pre 1973. Probably 69-72. I got an 81 same as 86 sitting in the back yard. Value??? $20.00.

Seems like some folks are making outdoor seating with old tailgates. The guy who bought it seemed excited to find one in such good shape.
